Why native?

Plants native to the local ecosystem are more than a part of a lawn- they play an active role in maintaining biodiversity and life for all of us. They create healthier places for people to live in, and on top of that, are easy to take care of and naturally beautiful

Read on to find out the countless ways that the earth benefits from it’s native ecosystem.

The power of native plants:

Maintain biodiversity

Combat climate change

Durable and easy to maintain

Since native plants have adapted to local climate, they will survive through harsh weather conditions like frost and drought. Because of this, natural landscapes require

• less chemicals
• less upkeep
• less water
• less money

Making them a great option for you and the environment!

A call to action

40 Million

acres of lawns in the United States

It is our responsibility to carefully use our lawn space in order to conserve the earth that we live on. And natives are the obvious choice that will benefit both humans and the ecosystem. Common mowed lawns pose threats to the environment as well as cost 5x as much as natural/native landscapes to upkeep over a 10 year period

Our Mission:

Our mission is to help educate the population about the importance of native and invasive plants. Through this we hope to preserve biodiversity and combat climate change:

Every time you go out for a walk, you are probably walking right by several invasive plants and don’t even know it. Invasive plants put our natural landscape at risk and disrupt the ecosystem.

We live in a state with incredible biodiversity, yet most know little about the kinds of plants they see each day. Spreading knowledge and excitement for the plants around us will encourage people to care for their local ecosystems.

The beauty of native species

On top of their many benefits, native plants are some of the most colorful and vibrant plant species and make a great addition to any landscape.
